Prior to his tenure at Disney, Johnson held the position of Head of Business & Legal Affairs at Fuse Media, a leading Latino-owned global entertainment company. He led all business and legal matters for the creation, distribution and marketing of intellectual property across all media including television, feature film, home, entertainment and digital including the Standards and Practices and Rights and Clearances departments.

​With over 15 years at Viacom’s cable networks (MTV, VH1, BET), Johnson served as both a Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs and Executive Producer of Programming. His roles involved spearheading creative, business, and legal aspects of production, resulting in the creation of entertainment content that captivated millions of viewers worldwide. Noteworthy achievements include his pivotal role in rebranding "BET Jazz" to "BET J" and his involvement in the launch of MTV Network’s "VH1 Tempo," a Pan-Caribbean cable network dedicated exclusively to Caribbean content.

Johnson’s experience extends beyond his legal and executive roles; he is also an award-winning producer (Sean Joell Johnson - IMDB), boasting accolades from esteemed organizations such as NAACP, GLAAD, NAMIC, ABFF and the Telly Awards. His impressive portfolio includes productions for various networks, including BET, VH1, Centric, BET J, MTV, and VH1 Tempo, in addition to feature films such as "Burned" (BET), "Christmas Wedding Baby" (BET) and "Dirty Laundry" (Logo). He also produced three seasons of ABFF Independent the first original series on Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson’s Aspire television network along with network’s launch special.

 

Also serving as Principal of LeftCenter Entertainment, LLC, Johnson leads an entertainment consultancy and production company catering to esteemed clients such as BET, VH1, Aspire, The Ford Foundation, HuffPost, Red Bull Media House, and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

Johnson holds degrees from The George Washington University Law School and the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business.  He is a member of the California Bar Association, Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Emmy Organization) and the Producers Guild of America. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Black Entertainment and Sports Law Assocation, chairing their annual conference three times.

In this role, he orchestrated, negotiated, and supervised deals for Disney Branded Television’s development and production of live-action scripted and unscripted series and movies, including high-profile projects such as "Encanto" Live at the Hollywood Bowl, Jeremy Renner’s "Rennervations," and Miley Cyrus’ "Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions)" for Disney Channel and Disney+.​
